This design is an adaptation of a Shaker side table with
Japanese overtones. The top and aprons are made of
maple. The top is edged with mahogany and maple
breadboards. The legs are tapered oak.

| The chessboard is enveloped by a rosewood border and maple frame. The squares are made of maple, walnut, and mahogany with one rosewood diamond shape. The walnut base is finished in dark walnut Danish oil while the top floats 1/2" above the base. |
